TITLE:                         Virtual Academy Teacher 

CLASSIFICATION:      Certified Position

LOCATION:                 Administrative Service Center (ASC)

REPORTS TO:             Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Schools

 

QUALIFICATIONS:.

  • Valid Indiana teaching license in the content area for the teaching assignment.
  • English, Mathematics, Social Studies and/or Science content area licenses preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple eLearning platforms.
  • Established practices in building relationships with students & families
  • Proven experience teaching on a virtual platform preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter and current educational practices; utilizes varied instructional strategies and activities.
  • Establishes, communicates and encourages high standards of student performance.
  • Conducts two daily live stream check-ins with students.
  • Progress monitor of academics and attendance for a designated cohort of students throughout the year.
  • Monitors, assesses, and provides appropriate feedback of student performance and progress.
  • Keeps attendance reports.
  • Communicates to parents and shares both positive feedback and concerns.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Performs non-instructional duties affecting the school program. 
  • Implements school policy and pertinent law.
  • Participates in professional development activities; Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Prepares teaching outline for course of student, assigns lessons, and corrects homework papers.
  • Administers tests to evaluate student’s progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress.
  • Maintains discipline in a virtual classroom, school building and school grounds.
  • Performs related duties, such as sponsoring one or more special activities or student organizations, assisting students in selecting course of study, and counsels them in adjustment and academic problems.
  • Collaborates with assigned School Counselors to ensure academic progress is on track and any other student needs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Administrator and/or other designee. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. 

 

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
