Technical Expert - Flight Control Laws Design & Development

Location: Montreal, Quebec or Toronto, Ontario, Canada; United States (multiple locations)

Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada OR the United States



Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering
  • Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience developing Flight Control Laws (CLaws) for Fly-By-Wire (FBW) aircraft
  • Extensive knowledge of aircraft flight dynamics and aerodynamics
  • Expertise in flight control law design, development, validation, and verification
  • Experience developing autopilot and navigation control systems
  • Experience developing control law and system requirements
  • Experience with control law requirements validation and verification (V&V)
  • Experience supporting software certification activities
  • Knowledge of:
    • DO-178B
    • SAE ARP4754
  • Expertise in classical and modern control system design techniques
  • Experience with:
    • SISO control systems
    • MIMO control systems
    • Advanced control law techniques and methodologies
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Aircraft stability
    • Handling qualities
    • Flight control systems
    • Pilot-in-the-loop evaluations
  • Experience with linear and nonlinear control law evaluation techniques
  • Experience with simulation, testing, and flight test data analysis
  • Experience integrating control laws into hardware and test environments
  • Proficiency with:
    • MATLAB
    • Simulink
  • Proficiency in:
    • MATLAB scripting
    • C++ programming
  • Knowledge of state estimation and Kalman filtering preferred
  • Strong understanding of software certification and complex software verification processes
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Strong teamwork, innovation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage technical responsibilities with minimal supervision
