Location: Austin, TX 78701 (Hybrid: On-site & Telework)
Duration: 12 months (06/01/2026 – 06/01/2027)
Rate: $65 – $70/hour

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst 2 to support a client agency within an emerging technology environment. This role is responsible for analyzing business needs, documenting requirements, improving operational processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver effective technology solutions.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in Agile environments while supporting business transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, technical teams, and project managers to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain business process documentation, including workflows and process maps.
  • Create and document user stories, use cases, and other business analysis artifacts.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including:
    • Sprint planning
    • Backlog refinement
    • Daily stand-ups
    • Retrospectives
  • Support testing activities, including validation and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with project standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in a technology-related field.
  • Strong experience in requirements gathering, analysis, and documentation.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years working knowledge of Agile methodologies and practices.
  • 2+ years of experience with:
    • Use case development and documentation
    • Business process mapping and workflow documentation

Work Environment & Additional Details

  • Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (excluding State holidays)
  • Work arrangement: Hybrid (On-site + Telework)
  • Primary work location: Texas Department of Public Safety (Austin, TX)
  • Occasional work outside standard hours (evenings/weekends) may be required with prior approval
  • Overtime (>40 hours/week) must be pre-approved

Travel & Expenses

  • Travel must be pre-approved in writing
  • Reimbursement (if approved) will follow State of Texas travel guidelines
  • All other expenses (travel, parking, per diem, lodging) are the responsibility of the candidate/vendor unless otherwise approved
